Via Ferrata in Hungary

Ironed-routes

Explore the vertical empire!

DID YOU KNOW?

The first via ferrata was built of wood on the Mount Auguille in 1492. During the First World War, the Dolomites were given a new impetus to build up mountainous trails with ropes, to facilitate the deployment of troops and supplies. Since then, it has spread as a free time sport across Europe as a simpler, safer way of rock climbing, and an introduction to the wonderful world of mountains. In Hungary, the Tatabánya Alpin Sports Club is building the ironed roads. There are currently 10 routes at 3 locations from B / C to E / F.

WHO CAN CLIMB?

Anyone. (Almost.) It is important to not have dizziness as well as having basic fitness level to make your climbing enjoyable. The ironed roads in Hungary are different difficulties, the lightest are for children (5-6 years old) and those who live a less active lifestyle and the harder ones are for sporty people. For children too? Yes! Accompanied by adults who take the responsibility, of course. A part of the hungarian Ironed Routes is located in a protected area. Using them requires a a nature and property management license. The easiest way to get this license is by requesting a Iron Passenger Card.

HOW TO CLIMB?

Along the route, a wire rope is fixed to the rock at several points, which is the basis of the protection of the climbers. The climber is attached to the special equipment as a protection from falling. On roads of varying difficulty, you can take advantage of the natural features of the cliff, as well as the ropes and, occasionally, the ladder steps fixed to the rock, if necessary. The 10 commandments

commandments

1. Before climbing, check the weather and get ready for it!
2. Arrive well-rested, drink and eat enough before you start climbing!
3. Choose the right path for your knowledge and endurance!
4. Use the right clothing and equipment!
5. Wear the helmet under the cliffs and during climbing! It protects you from the injuries caused by falling stones.
6. Pick up the seat correctly, fasten the buckle tightly on your waist, so you can not get out of it without loosening the buckle. Check eachothers equipment with your partner!
7. During the climb, both lanyards must be connected to the wire rope. At the fixing points first hook one and then the other carabiner to the next section. The safety carabiners should always be in the closed position, so the tongue of the carabiner can not open accidentally.
8. You must have at least 2 fixing points between you and your partner.
9. At the resting places let the ones who are faster then you pass.
10. Protect the environment! Collect the garbage in the containers, help the nature keep its original beauty.
